Hyderabad: The Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) and Pokarna Group together came out with a skill development centre at the FTCCI Building in Red Hills, Hyderabad. Spread over 2,000 sft with two classrooms to train 40 each, the Centre is set up to develop skills among 20,000 people in a year at an affordable fee.
On Wednesday, the FTCCI Pokarna Skill Centre was formally inaugurated by Telangana Industries and Commerce Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, and College Education Commissioner Navin Mittal along with Pokarna Ltd CMD Gautam Chand Jain. On the occasion, the 106-year old industry body signed four MoUs with NIMSME, GIZ, JIT0 and GMR Cargo to facilitate experiential learning.
"Manufacturing is one of the most important and crucial sectors in our State with immense potential for employment generation. Unfortunately, skilled manpower is always scarce in this sector. With new-age digital innovations disrupting the industry, skilling the manpower in the evolving technologies has become mandatory to cater to the requirements of skilled workforce in this sector," said Jayesh Ranjan.
He suggested focusing on niche and unique areas. "Differentiate yourself with rest of skills centres. Don't be me-too kind of a centre. Focus on manufacturing. Within the domain focus on four or five sectors where there is a huge skill gap. Focus on experiential learning," he said. He also assured to collaborate with Digital Employment Exchange of Telangana (DEET) for better job prospects to students.
